Headlight not working

Postby Milen » Sat Nov 04, 2017 11:44 am

Hi everyone! My headlight went out a few days ago. At first I thought it was the bulb but after changing it the problem persisted. Then I bought a multimeter and checked the continuity of the wires from the hi/lo switch to the headlight and it was ok. By the way I feel a lot more comfortable figuring out mechanical issues but when it comes to electrical stuff I'm really lost. I used the multimeter to check if there's power going to the headlight and it seems to be ok. One thing I noticed though: When I insert a bulb and then turn the ignition on, as I'm flipping through the hi/lo switch, the hi beam dash light does NOT come on. As soon as I remove the headlight bulb and repeat the same procedure, the hi beam dash light works fine. I have no clue how to fix this. Any ideas? Thanks!

Problem solved. It turned out that the starter button was getting dirty and the headlight shutoff apparently got partially stuck. Cleaned it up and put dielectric grease on it. Works like a charm!
