Re: front end thud sound?

My axle was about a 1/4" out of alignment.Things seem a bit better,I gotta get out for ride and see how she feels. The last set of seals was done by someone else, and yes with the damper not screwed into the cap the fork leg nearly fell completely off when I removed the wheel,,I guess I was luck...

Re: front end thud sound?

Thanks for replying Bare,I should also add that it did not make any noise before the fork seal job,I've been trying to isolate it,I can put my hand on each fork leg and push up and down and feel it,,I checked the wheel bearings, they moved smoothly. If it is the axle alignment, will that make the soun...

Re: front end thud sound?

After riding it a bit,I checked the sound again,it could be a clunk  ,it doesn't make any noise riding, only notice it sitting still, pushing down on the front end, just trying to add as much info as possible.

Re: Damper Rod?

I didn't want to seem like I was accusing the stealer of anything,it was just a thought, soley because of the numbers. And now that you mention it,I got a Hoppe fairing up front,I suppose that'll add a little sag, about 20lbs.IIRC. I'm pulling the forks apart next week and we'll see what the story is....

Re: Damper Rod?

Ok,run with me for a minute here,,,back a couple of years ago when my bike was under warranty,I had to have my seals done a couple of times, the stealer there were freakin jerks. I checked my measurement on the fork slider, according to the number I have stock springs in there,4",I see the expose...

Re: Damper Rod?

LOL,yeah I was talking about the forks,my bad  I did the seals and oil last August,it's just when you compress the forks they return to the top and bounce down one more time or so,it would seem like the damper rod should control the return of the forks and it's not doing it. Is this a familiar...

Damper Rod?

Has anyone ever seen one go bad yet?
They don't appear to be serviceable.
