Re: Bed rails

Is that an led third brake light in the last pics? Excuse my ignorance, but what is por15? por 15 is a type of paint that has no solvents, often used for chassis and hot rod builds. It's like powder coat but won't chip or even dent with a hammer, you have to desolvent and metal etch and ...

Bed rails

Finally got around to making some stuff, made bed rails from 1/4 steel, probably a little to heavy. Used por15 for the first time, next up is a light bar with hidden leds

Re: Timing issue for valve adjustment

I'll post more this weekend. The areas you checked temps left on rear and right on front, your by the exhaust. Take new ones both on left at idle at 3 min and 5 min and 8 min on drivers side of the bike, a good flush also would be plucking stat and running hose in each direction atone point. Back fl...

Re: drive flange theory

Mine are good too, strange those who derailed the converstion are nowhere to be found. I'm glad I built this thread, and even happier people took the time to read it.

Re: High power bike clutch options

What you guys said is exactly what I'm saying. Slipping on starts and between gears, not under hard acceleration. That's why is brought up the solonoid on shifts. We don't want lock up as the clutch is disengaged. The more power we have we want more pressure to hold them from slipping, but I would s...

Re: High power bike clutch options

I would do ebc with no shims and work up from there, my opinion is 9$ Ebc. are superior to mtc. Best springs I've run, will they hold at 130hp? Not sure but shimming to me is something I would do if I needed more not because I can. I've run 3 brands with and with out. Clutch slipping is good, better...

Re: Fork Design

Yup, lowers only or outers all the way down make it way easier, I did the bathroom scale thing too, before and after, 15lbs vs 2 I think. The original basis on this thread was to show what improvements could be made cheap and easy after 15 years of people saying these forks have no adjustment. It's ...

Re: Fork Design

your outer legs are all assembled, that's why your doing way more work. I would use a tape measure and disassemble your forks like your doing seals. That's why my write up makes no sense to you

Re: Fork Design

First I think it's cool someone else is looking into this. I'm all for it. I do 100% agree that the rebound spring is in the slave fork but must make it perfectly clear to those reading this besides us that the rebound dampening and compression is on the other leg. As the bike sits on the ground bot...

I have swapped coils, been through headlight bucket, and all plugs and connections, thigh tightened the kickstand pulled control boxs on bars, lo...

Re: what about non-resistor plugs?

Nology silvers are junk. I chased issues for a month and found the porcelain had cracked, they were sized by nology, there's pics on this forum somewhere. I sent pics and asked them they said they were sized wrong. Stay away.

Re: what about non-resistor plugs?

Resistor plugs are made for Ecu type ignition systems, like ecm on the Vtx. It's not something I would try just to be cheap. Most Ecu type ignitions run 5v on the control side. You could get small voltage spikes that mess with the works. Control voltage is picky. lawn mower or 1978 ford pick up use ...

Re: drive flange theory

I wouldn't pin that on the drive bearing, my first thought would be the piston seizing in your caliper I would pop it out and clean the bore. The get grimy and push out really well but they won't retract with all the garbage. I would just inspect the flange when the tires off not much beyond that. U...

Re: Fork Design

Figured I would resurrect this. A little bit out of necessity. One thing that is a misconception about, and I know I'm repeating myself, is that there is no adjustment on the forks. I hear it as often as "my forks didn't line up quite right, what a pita". It even showed up in this thread. ...

Re: drive flange theory

Glad it's still working for you, there is nothing you need to do. If you can slide the bushing out with the inner race you could smear new grease in it in theory. But to be honest I rather you didn't and I won't on mine unless I remove some grease for pics. These are capable in my opinion to run as ...
