Re: Troubleshooting help please

Well enjoy your time down south, no biggie here - I suspect the ground was your issue all along. Hopefully it doesn't pop up again, but if it does we'll address it then! Have a great Thanksgiving! Trip to Florida was fun, rode a victory cross country. Allot different from the X, I think the X has m...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Not sure if I'll get any more rides in. I'm down in Florida for the weekend and it's snowing back home. I'll update when I get to ride again but may be in the spring. :(

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Good to know, thanks for getting that info!

Another ride tonight. Did about 40 miles, including a short stretch on the interstate to run it up close to 80mph. No issues at all.

Re: Troubleshooting help please

I understand on the no need to reply as I'm trying nothing different on my test runs. Another ride in last night, little bit longer. Almost 20 miles without issue. Does feel like it has more power since I put the ejk back on. May just be me but it does. So far, so good. Another ride scheduled tonigh...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Latest happenings. I put the ejk back on, I have it grounded to the battery for now. I moved my grounds off the makeshift post and grounded to the battery box mount you mentioned. Fired up and went for a short ride last night - probably 8 miles. It was getting cold fast. No issues but I have to put ...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Did 250 miles today without any issue.

Still planning on putting the ejk on tomorrow and head out for a ride. I'll update again after I get the ejk on and rides in.

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Another ride tonight, almost 30 miles. No problems at all, when I got back into the subdivision, I stopped by the park and let it idle until the fan kicked in. I then went around the loop and back to the park. Let it idle again until the fan kicked in and pulled away with the fan running and went ho...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

He made a good point and I'm just trying to cover everything and give all the details I can.

I don't want it to be a "my motorcycle is making a noise, how do I get rid of it" thread with little to no info.

Re: Troubleshooting help please

In theory the frame and the battery are supposed to be "one in the same". If you follow the ground wire from the battery it runs down and grounds to the frame and/or the motor (depending on the model). The catch is making sure the actual battery grounds are good, and if the battery only g...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

For a ground under the left cover I use 1 of 2 options - first and my favorite is the 10mm hex head that secures the battery box. You can see this in the top left of this picture: http://tech.bareasschoppers.com/wp-content/image_gallery/misc/burned_mains.jpg I pull the bolt, clean the powdercoat of...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Not to second guess you, but just so I don't overlook something obvious - how is your makeshift ground setup? I only ask because too often I see guys create a ground post using a "too small" grounded wire to connect the post and it's inadequate. This is the reason I normally ground to a g...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Plugs looks really good, some of the better ones I've seen come out of an X. Nice and tan, not too much black soot/crud on them. Front cylinder is a little dirtier than the rear, but nothing to write home about - just an observation. and here I am thinking they look like shit.... glad to hear they ...

Re: Battery question

It does not, as long as it is in the off position. I keep my key in my bike at home in the garage and never had a problem

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Everything sounds as expected so far. I'd pull the EJK to check it and just eliminate it as a possibility, and read the plugs just to see if they're giving you any valuable feedback. I will pull out the EJK before I put it back together - I did pull the plugs and took some pics - I am not that good...

Re: Troubleshooting help please

Do you know if the bike ever had a Power Commander on it? If so, check the TPS wire for wear like in this post/picture: http://forums.bareasschoppers.com/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=2418#p14080 the tps wire looks good - the bike was stock pretty much when I got it (windshield - seat - passenger back r...

Troubleshooting help please

Never thought I would post this thread. 2007 1800 R bought in 2013 with 5,200 miles now about 36,000 miles. I had a leak in the radiator, bought new radiator and swapped that out with new coolant. During the swap, I put in a new radio in my fairing and cleaned up some of the electrical web I had goi...

Re: Moly 60 paste alternative?

Long story short - We were taking off the rear fender rails to get the fender off. 3 bolts on each side, 2 on the side and 1 on top. I was able to break the 4 side bolts loose but the top 2 were already semi stripped. I was able to get bite with the 8mm allen but not enough to break the bolts loose....

Re: Moly 60 paste alternative?

Thanks for the reply, that 51048 is the same that I've seen mentioned. You know I won't go the cheap route. I ran into some bolts on the c50 during tear down that had so much loc-tite and whoever worked on it before stripped out 2 of the heads. I did get them out, just wasn't happy at the time. Than...
